Misdemeanor defense
A person accused of a criminal misdemeanor can face significant consequences. There are three classes of misdemeanor charges with varying degree of punishment
- Class 1 misdemeanor: six months in jail and/or a $2,500 fine
- Class 2 misdemeanor: four months in jail and/or a $750 fine
- Class 3 misdemeanor: 30 days in jail and/or a $500 fine

Felony charges
A felony conviction can result in significant consequences including large fines, jail time, and personal struggles. In Arizona there are six different classes of felonies, each with different penalties and repercussions:
- Class 1 felony: 25 years to life in prison, and the death penalty is possible in cases of first degree murder
- Class 2 felony: 5 years
- Class 3 felony: 3.5 years
- Class 4 felony: 2.5 years
- Class 5 felony: 1.5 years
- Class 6 felony: 1 years
Many crimes qualify as felonies, but as example, a Class 6 felony might include:
- Sexual conduct with a minor
- Theft (if the value of stolen items is between $2000 and $3000)
- Shoplifting
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
- Aggravated domestic violence
- Possession of burglary tools
- Disorderly conduct
- Resisting arrest
